Memorable experience
The European Society of Cardiology Congress 2023, which brought together 4500
faculty and presenters to share their groundbreaking discoveries and eye-opening
insights with 30,000 researchers, was held in the picturesque city of Amsterdam. This
report chronicles my experience at the congress, where I had the opportunity to present
my findings, as well as my adventures in discovering the rich cultural and culinary
offerings of Amsterdam.
As the world's largest Congress of cardiologists, ESC 2023 commenced on August
25th and spanned four days, featuring both online and onsite components.
The primary purpose of my attendance at the ESC Congress was to present my
research findings. My moderated e-poster presentation, titled “Esaxerenone, a selective
mineralocorticoid receptor blocker, attenuates endothelial dysfunction and decreases
atherogenesis in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice,” focused on the novel, non-steroidal,
highly selective mineralocorticoid receptor blocker, Esaxerenone, and its effect on highcholesterol
diet-induced endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. Following the
presentation, I received valuable feedback from the audience and chairpersons.
Furthermore, some of the professors expressed their deepest interest in my findings and
requested I contact them later.
The scientific sessions and keynote lectures were nothing short of enlightening.
My colleagues and I updated our knowledge by attending a variety of sessions, which
provided us with insights into the current research trends in cardiology. We were able to
stay abreast of cutting-edge discoveries in various cardiovascular sciences.
I had a delightful dinner and a stimulating conversation with my colleagues and
Professor Masataka Sata in a gorgeous, vintage European restaurant. The dishes were
mouth-wateringly delicious, and more importantly, the conversation we had was warm
and enjoyable. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the doctors and
Professor Sata for their time and kindness.
Each day, I had a remarkable experience in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. I
enjoyed watching the city’s life along the canal, with its colorful old-fashioned buildings,
from a cruise. I had the privilege to have a closer look at the world-famous arts of Vang
Gogh and expanded my knowledge with visits to historical places such as the Anne Frank
House Museum, Rijksmuseum, and, particularly, the Body Art Museum.
I can’t skip mentioning my culinary experiences in Amsterdam. It was a dream
country for people who are obsessed with cheese and fruits which taste as if they were
fresh from the farm.
Once again, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Professor Masataka
Sata and Professor Daiju Fukuda for providing me with the opportunity to attend the
conference and enhance my research experience. I cannot thank you enough.
The ESC Congress 2023 was an incredible opportunity to engage with fellow
researchers, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations, all within the fascinating
backdrop of Amsterdam.
