The ESC (European Society of Cardiology) Congress is the annual and largest medical congress in Europe. It attracts young cardiologist and healthcare professionals from around the world who come together to discuss the latest advancements and innovations in the field of cardiovascular diseases and cardiovascular health.

I had the privilege of attending the ESC congress between 25-28th of August, with over 30000 participants in a hybrid format held in Amsterdam, Netherland.

For the past three years, the COVID-19 pandemic caused meetings to be cancelled and made us switch to virtual meetings. But this year, the ESC congress 2023 was return to normality for the first time in four years. Attendees could actively engage in discussions, ask questions, and participate in workshops. I was personally impressed by the commitment of the ESC organizers to provide a safe and welcoming environment, considering the recent challenges posed by pandemic.

I am deeply grateful to Professor Masataka Sata for providing me with the opportunity to attend this incredible congress which is one of the largest in the world. This was my first time to participating in such a substantial conference during my PhD course and I considered it an invaluable experience. The event features a diverse range of sessions, including keynote lectures, symposia, and interactive workshops covering interesting topics related to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

At the conference experts presented the latest updates to ESC guidelines, including acute coronary syndromes (ACS), endocarditis, diabetes and cardiomyopathy. These guidelines emphasize that cardiologists should consider using newer as the primary treatment options now available in the market.

Despite the busy congress schedule, I visited the several beautiful places in Amsterdam. Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherland, is famous for its charming canals, historic architecture, and vibrant cultural places, famous museums such as Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Its blend of history and modern lifestyle makes it an enchanting destination for visitors. These brief explorations added a memorable aspect to my congress experience.

Finally, I am grateful to Professor Masataka Sata, Professor Daiju Fukuda, and all colleagues and lab members in the cardiovascular department for their guidance and support. Their encouragement and advice have been invaluable, contributing to my growth and learning.
